Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley: Positive and Safe Club Environment

These funds will be utilized to continue to create the safe and positive environment families have come to expect of the Club at the new location. This includes safety upgrades, furniture, program materials, office supplies and technology. These funds will be used to purchase materials specific to afterschool programs that the Boys & Girls Club runs like Power Hour, Daily Challenge, STEM, Art, Youth for Unity, Healthy Habits, and SMART Moves. The Club runs these programs, which cover a wide range of topics, on a rotation for all members in order to create a continuously engaging environment. Supplies for these programs include iPads, art supplies, kid-safe kitchen utensils, sports equipment, and various STEM supplies. The Boys & Girls Club staff tailor each program to their group of members as they build relationships with them over the year, so access to a variety of supplies for programming is essential. To continue to improve the safety of our programming space we will also utilize funds to make safety upgrades to the new space we are using. In order to fully enjoy the outside space, safety items like cones, lighting and signage are needed. The funds will also be used to purchase door alarms, site crisis materials, and other small safety upgrades needed to bring the space up to our standards.

Chippewa Falls YMCA: Y on the Fly

The program goal is to build a "Y without walls." This program is designed to benefit those who are unable to join the YMCA. We will bring the Y to them and eliminate any transportation, social or accessibility barriers. This program will be carried out by trained staff who are employed by the YMCA. The staff members will bring the mission of the YMCA to various communities and offer physical, mental and educational opportunities for youth and their families. The YMCA will employee 5-7 staff members dedicated to this program. This grant will increase our capacity to reach youth and families in each community and at other events throughout the year by offering YMCA programs and educational services for youth and families outside of the YMCA walls. The funds will be used in the following manner: Staffing, transportation, equipment, consumable materials, and publicity/communication.

Come Now & Eat: Backpack Buddies NOW

Each of our food assistance programs goes back to our mission to provide food to those who are food insecure. This project provides week-end meals to children who are food insecure. Children who attend the School District of Cadott Community will benefit from receiving food from the Backpack Buddies NOW Program. We will purchase food from Feed My People as this is the most economical, pack food bags and deliver them to the schools, with Special Education students delivering bags to backpacks and lockers as their community service project. We have no paid employees, operating totally with volunteers. Receiving this grant will help us to continue to operate Come Now & Eat Community Table, Pop-up Pantries and most of all BackPack Buddies. The grant money will help us stretch our donation dollars.

Lake Holcombe School District: Greenhouse Improvements

People who would benefit from this project would involve students who gain the knowledge of planting and maintaining the health of these plants, community members who buy and use these plants, and the local food pantry who receive free plants to be given to those in need. We would carry out the project by purchasing the equipment needed to make the necessary upgrades to the greenhouse and installing the equipment as soon as possible. The grant will provide our organization with the ability to better meet the needs of those in our community and provide students with the opportunity to receive a hands-on education that establishes a life skill that would be beneficial to them in their future. With the upgrades to the two greenhouses, we would be able to double the number of plants we grow so that we are able to reach more people.

There are no working lights in the older greenhouse and no LED lights in the newer greenhouse. We would need fifteen new LED units to upgrade both greenhouses. With limited space to grow or set plants, we would like to purchase a variety of different carts to be used in and around the greenhouse for the plants.

Hope Village: Property Maintenance and Guest Services

This project "Property Maintenance and Guest Services" ensures our guests have a temporary safe place to live and the tools they need to achieve their secure living plan goals: financial stability, a health resource connection and permanent housing. Our homeless Tiny House guests will benefit directly from this project which includes: Property Maintenance: paint (interior and exterior), replacement of doors and locks, toilet, heater and AC replacement, fixing and repairing wheels and bearings on the Tiny House trailers and flooring. Guest Services: cell phones with limited minutes, Ride-Share vouchers and gas vouchers and emergency hotel vouchers during the Hope Village screening phase. Our accounting system tracks specific category line item costs versus budget. This project will fall within these same accounting parameters: Property Maintenance and Guest Services.

Hope Village has one 0.5 FTE Director and also contracts with the LEPhillips Career Development Center for Navigator services. Community Foundation of Chippewa County funds supporting the Property Maintenance and Guest Services project ensures our homeless guests have safe shelter and the tools they need to move from dependence to independence. Participation in the Hope Village-Tiny Housing Alternatives, Inc., shelter program includes weekly meetings with the program navigator and two volunteer mentors. These frequent "touch points" help develop and ensure ongoing secure living plan goal progress. Funding of this project supports these case management and supportive services ensuring our homeless guests develop and work toward secure living plan goals.

Chippewa Falls Area Senior Center: Fitness Equipment (kiosks) and Wellness Room

In receiving this grant, the senior center will be able to purchase the kiosks needed for reporting to insurance companies and programs that provide health and wellness courses through agencies such as Strong Bodies, Geri-Fit and Silver Sneakers. The senior center would also offer an "open gym" period for those wishing to work out on their own and expand current exercise programs to include more strength training.

The Chippewa Falls Area Senior Center would like to purchase two touch screen kiosks, two barcode scanners, membership cards, and a year's worth of programming. The membership cards can be scanned to allow for members to easily sign-in at the kiosk and select which program(s) they will be attending that day using the touch screen. The programming, which is required by various programs, allows for this data to be downloaded securely by the director to send along to insurance companies for reimbursement for providing classes and also to Strong Bodies, Geri-Fit, and Silver Sneakers who reimburse the center for member attendance. While needed for these programs to become a part of the senior center's regular programming, the kiosks offer a much greater purpose to the center. This programming also allows for each member to be placed into the system with emergency contact information and health information in case of emergencies.

Family Support Center: Welcome Baby Project

The Welcome Baby project is a new program created to reach out to and support families at the beginning of their parenting journey. This project will offer hospital visits (in- person and virtual) to families, providing them with parenting resources that promote parent-child relationships, parenting education and child development information, and local resources for families. Trained staff will provide hospital visits, resources and new baby gifts to newborns and their families. This program is a collaborative effort with medical entities and family support programs including HSHS Sacred Heart/St. Joseph's, Marshfield Hospital, Eau Claire Family Resource Center, and River Source Family Center. This collaborative partnership will benefit all families by offering them educational resources, community and parent connection experiences, and formal and informal social support network opportunities for every family. Parent Educators will be trained in Period of PURPLE Crying (PPC) program. Trained Parent Educators will offer in-person and virtual visits to ALL parents and newborns at local community hospitals. In addition, to (3) Parent Educators, hospital staff are encouraged to also be trained in PPC.

This grant would increase the number of staff hours/week to dedicate to the Welcome Baby project, allowing Parent Educators from RSFC to visit hospitals 3+ days/week. The grant would also support mileage expenses and the purchase of a tablet for virtual visits during the pandemic. Increasing the number of hours/week and providing mileage reimbursement will allow staff to increase their capacity to reach more families with vital connections and information.
