Literacy Chippewa County Fund

The Literacy Chippewa County Fund was established by Nancy Hebert of Chippewa Falls. Grants from this fund will support Chippewa County residents who utilize the services of Literacy Chippewa Valley, a non-profit organization that helps adults gain life-changing reading and writing skills.

Nancy loves to read for pleasure and considers reading something that not only improves quality of life but can also open up opportunities that otherwise might not be available to all."If you can't read, you struggle in life," said Nancy.

An avid reader from the beginning, Nancy was just a child when she took the bus all by herself to the local public library. "I couldn't believe that I could only check out six books at a time!" Nancy said. "And now I have stacks of books all over my house."

Nancy's love for our community, and the way that people come together to support each other is what inspired her to start an endowment fund with the Foundation. Among the services of Literacy Chippewa Valley are programs for jail inmates, something Nancy said she supports wholeheartedly.

"It is my hope that by learning to read, these individuals could go on to get their GED and achieve so much more than they could imagine," said Nancy.

Literacy Chippewa County Fund, is a Designated Fund that was established to provide funding to the Literacy Chippewa Valley, Eau Claire, WI, to support Chippewa County Programming.
