The Bloomer School District has established a fund with the Community Foundation to carry on the important work established by the former Blackhawk Education Foundation, which recently dissolved.
The Blackhawk Education Fund will continue to enhance the educational journey of Kindergarten through 12th-grade students, support new and innovative learning activities in the District, and invest in the Bloomer community through excellence in education.
Examples of projects that were funded in the past include school supply kits made possible through bulk purchasing and that eased the financial burden on families; the acquisition of audiobooks to promote literacy and give students opportunities to practice their listening and comprehension skills; and the installation of a hydroponic gardening system for the high school agriculture department that also contributes fresh lettuce to school lunches.
According to Josh Isaacson, superintendent of the Bloomer School District, educational innovation will be encouraged through the fund in addition to continued support for the tools students need for success. Teachers will have the ability to "push the innovation envelope for students" by requesting mini-grants to create dynamic learning experiences or travel opportunities for their classes.
The new Blackhawk Education Fund will ensure that every child in the Bloomer School District is supported equitably and has a variety of well-rounded experiences in and out of the classroom. As a pass-through fund, disbursements are made as needs arise or when new projects are conceived and brought forward. Anyone can donate to the fund at any time and in any amount.
Established to accept donations and process disbursements for providing school supplies(non-athletic) to enhance the educational journey of K-12 students and/or to support educators' innovative learning projects.
