The Joan and Peter Kirk Lake Wissota Improvement Fund was established to help maintain the area's popular manmade lake, created in 1917, so it can remain a peaceful retreat for generations to come. This designated fund preserves the Kirk's intentions of ensuring others get as much joy out time spent on Lake Wissota as they have over the years.

Joan and Peter Kirk describe Lake Wissota as a wonderful natural resource with a variety of fish and flocks of migratory birds that they feel fortunate to have enjoyed so much. The Kirks also appreciate the efforts of the volunteers of the Lake Wissota Improvement and Protection Association, noting what a large undertaking it is to maintain a body of water that covers more than 6300 acres and attracts visitors and their families from far and wide.

"We support the health of the lake, and so we support the Lake Wissota Improvement and Protection Association," said Peter.

The Kirks say that their passion for the scenic and vibrant lake is something they want to help keep alive long after they are gone and hope that others will join them through charitable gifts to this endowment.
