Bob and Lea Dirks Coast to Coast Hardware Store Endowment Fund

Lea and her husband Bob, along with daughter Donna and her husband Bill Meier, owned the Coast to Coast Hardware Store on Spring Street in Chippewa Falls from 1950 to 1989.  Anyone who ever shopped there will not forget the friendly greetings and service so cheerily delivered daily by Lea and Bob - and maybe will even remember Lea frying donuts in the front window for a downtown promotion!        

"I just want people to always know that there once was a store called Coast to Coast," stated Lea emphatically.  Hence, there now is the Bob and Lea Dirks Coast to Coast Hardware Store Endowment Fund, a designated fund started by transferring assets from some CD's which "weren't doing much good any more anyway," Lea said. Their fund will annually distribute grants to several  nonprofit organizations identified by Lea and Bob. 

What a great way for a piece of a community's history to be remembered forever!  Thank you Lea and Bob!
