The Chippewa County Historical Society Endowment Fund was established to support the ongoing mission and sustainability of the Chippewa Area History Center.

The Chippewa County Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of Chippewa County. Since its founding in 1969, the Society has brought history to life through exhibits, educational programs, publications, reenactments, and more. It cares for the county's physical artifacts and, in partnership with the Genealogical Society, manages an extensive research archive. The Society operates from the Chippewa Area History Center, which opened in 2023.

This fund supports all aspects of the Society's mission. In 2025, it supported a new monthly community learning program, reenactments of the fur trade era and Second World War, new exhibits on county cultural life, and adding hundreds of artifacts to the collection.

Among the items the Society has collected and preserved with the funds include the century-old stained glass and cornerstone from the original St. Joseph's hospital, artwork for Cray supercomputer boards, artifacts from local industry (like the Chippewa Woolen Mill) and clubs (such as 4-H and the Girl Scouts), and countless photographs and personal items from Chippewa County residents.

The volunteers and staff at the Historical Society are continuing to expand their research, collection, and exhibit efforts in their new building.

For the hundreds of school children that have participated in the school days this year, the Historical Society is a way to learn about past with passionate educators and hands-on activities. For families, it is a place to visit and learn with all generations. For longtime and recent residents of Chippewa County, the Historical Society is the place to find where we've been, who we are, and where we're going.
