The Cook-Rutledge Mansion Endowment Fund, held through the Community Foundation of Chippewa County, was created to ensure that this treasured landmark continues to be cared for and shared with future generations. Maintaining a historic building requires ongoing attention, thoughtful preservation, and resources to protect its architectural character. The endowment provides a lasting source of support so that the Mansion's operation, restoration, and educational programming can continue for decades to come.
The Cook-Rutledge Mansion has stood proudly in the heart of Chippewa Falls for more than 150 years. Built during the lumber boom that shaped the Chippewa Valley, the Mansion reflects a time when craftsmanship, architecture, and community pride came together to create something lasting and beautiful. Today, the Mansion is more than a historic house-it is a gathering place where the past and present meet. Families celebrate weddings and milestones within its' walls, schoolchildren learn about local history, and visitors experience the stories of the people who helped build the region.
Supporters of this fund believe that preserving historic places strengthens the fabric of a community. The Mansion is one of the few remaining reminders of the city's early prosperity and civic leadership. As other historic buildings have disappeared over time, the Cook-Rutledge Mansion remains a symbol of Chippewa Falls' heritage and resilience.
With previous restoration work-including the careful repair of 2 of the Mansion's 4 historic porches-shows what is possible when a community comes together to preserve a landmark. Yet there is always more to do to protect a home of this age and significance.
Contributing to the Cook-Rutledge Mansion Endowment Fund is a way to invest in the future of Chippewa Falls while honoring its past. Each gift helps ensure that this beautiful historic home will continue welcoming visitors, hosting celebrations, and telling the stories of the Chippewa Valley for generations to come. Those who support the fund are not simply preserving a building-they are preserving the spirit, history, and identity of the community itself.

Cook Rutledge Mansion Endowment Fund, is an Agency Fund that was established to solely support the long-term mission-driven goals and operations of the Cook Rutledge Mansion.
