Dennis and Carole Mickesh Fund

"There aren't too many things that withstand time, Dennis said. "Buildings fall down. Things deteriorate. But I feel this will continue because it'll pass from one generation to another."- Dennis Mickesh"

Dennis and Carole Mickesh shared five decades of marriage- and two children, a business venture, countless memories and more along the way. Dennis Mickesh smiles fondly when reflecting on his late wife and the life they led together.

"I think this says it best: she never met a person she didn't like. She always thought the best of people," said Mickesh, 75, of Chippewa Falls, former owner of Indianhead Surveying Company (now Chippewa Surveying), where Carole was secretary.

Carole passed away last October at age 75, though not before making her mark on the world. Through the years, she also worked as membership coordinator at the local Wisconsin Farmers Union Office, served as a founding board member of the Chippewa Valley Family YMCA in Chippewa Falls and once played in the Ladies Professional Golf Association Pro-Am.

Beloved by her friends, family and all who knew her, Carole indeed leaves behind a legacy - one that her husband and family hope to help preserve through their establishment of the Dennis and Carole Mickesh Seedling Fund.

He thanks the Community Foundation of Chippewa County for helping make it possible. "I think it's a very worthwhile endeavor," he said.
