The Douglas and Marilyn "Jinx" Smith Family Fund was established to be able to support the most pressing and ever-changing needs of the community.

Jinx was very involved with her church and community. She served as an elder for First Presbyterian Church in Chippewa Falls, a member of the First Presbyterian Women's Club, a member of the P.E.O Sisterhood Chapter AB, and was active in the Elks Club. She also managed the church's endowment fund. 

Jinx loved to be active. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and competed in Nastar downhill ski races until she was 80 years old.  She helped out at the Heyde Center and assisted with many plays, was an unbelievable seamstress, and even had her own clothing line "Fashioned by Jinx". She was a stylish lady, down to earth and very caring.

Although Marilyn "Jinx" Smith passed away in 2022, her legacy continues through these funds, that support the highest priorities in Chippewa County through an annual competitive grant cycle, allowing resources to be directed where they will have the greatest impact each year. Because community needs evolve over time, unrestricted funds provide the flexibility to respond quickly and effectively to emerging challenges, urgent needs, and new opportunities that improve quality of life for residents.

Earnings from the Douglas and Marilyn "Jinx" Smith Family Fund are distributed annually, ensuring ongoing support for local nonprofits and community programs forever. In this way, the generous family can be confident their contributions will continue to make a meaningful difference - not just today, but for generations to come - helping the community thrive now and into the future.
