When St. Joseph's Hospital closed its' doors, it marked the end of an era, but not the end of its' impact. Through the generosity of donors who had established endowments to support health and human services, a new chapter began at the Community Foundation of Chippewa County.
Today, that legacy lives on through the Healthy Chippewa County funds, ensuring that care, compassion, and community well-being continue to thrive across the region. What once supported patients within hospital walls now reaches families, individuals, and organizations throughout Chippewa County.
The Healthy Chippewa County funds will support granting and serve the greater Chippewa County area. Grants will be awarded to organizations whose programs address health needs and reduce health disparities. Grants supporting AODA programming, financial assistance to health care, home health and hospice and health care for women and infants will be available and considered from these funds.
Because of these funds, a parent can access critical health resources for their child. A senior can receive support to remain safely in their home. A local nonprofit can expand services to reach underserved populations. These are not isolated outcomes, they are the direct result of donors who believed that everyone deserves access to quality care, regardless of circumstance.
Rather than a single program or initiative, the Healthy Chippewa County funds are a catalyst. They respond to evolving community needs, invest in solutions that reduce health disparities, and strengthen the network of health care across the region.
What began with a hospital has transformed into something broader. An enduring commitment to health in all its forms. Through thoughtful stewardship and community collaboration, the Community Foundation ensures that these gifts continue to make a meaningful difference, every single day.

This fund supports our annual Healthy Chippewa County grant opportunity that will address the most current and pressing health needs within our county.
Funding prioritizes programming initiatives that meet current community health needs, while also reducing health disparities.
