Children of Jack and Dorothy chose to partner with the Community Foundation of Chippewa County for trusted philanthropic guidance in establishing the Jack and Dorothy Christensen Family Education Seedling Fund. Through this partnership, they created a charitable seedling fund designed to grow over time and make a lasting impact in the community.
For over 80 years, four generations of the Christensen family have been helping people celebrate, add beauty to their lives and remember loved ones with flowers. After the passing of Jack in 2001 and Dorothy in 2007, their children started this Seedling Fund with the intent that it will someday be an endowed Field of Interest Fund that will provide grants "for all kinds" of educational efforts and programs.
A seedling fund is an ideal option for individuals or families who wish to build their charitable legacy gradually. With annual contributions, the fund grows steadily towards the endowment level. Each gift becomes part of a long-term investment that will ultimately provide permanent support for local causes.
The fund's assets are carefully and professionally managed. Once the fund reaches endowed status, a portion of its earnings will be distributed as grants and address the charitable needs identified by the fundholders. This approach allows donors to align their generosity with their financial plans and charitable vision while ensuring sustainable community benefit.
Every contribution along with future investment earnings remains dedicated to positive change, creating a lasting source of community capital.
Community foundations offer a simple, personal, and flexible way to give. Donors may contribute cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, or other assets to start a fund, making it easy to support the causes they care about while meeting their financial and philanthropic goals.

This Seedling Fund was created with a charitable gift and once it grows into a fully endowed fund it will grant back into the community per the donor's wishes.
