The Paul Walter Schaus, MD, Health Care Endowment Fund was established using funds transferred from Dr. Schaus' endowment with the former St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation. Grants from his fund will support the work of the Children's Resource Center for children and families that face special health care needs in the greater Chippewa County area.

The Children's Resource Center (CRC) - West is a program of the Chippewa County Department of Public Health that serves 18 counties across Western Wisconsin. They support families and the professionals who care for children and youth with special health care needs by providing free and confidential resource navigation, information and referral, and practical support.

Families often face challenges accessing the services their child needs. CRC-West walks alongside them, offering personalized support to connect with health care providers, therapies, school services, and community resources. By simplifying the process and providing trusted guidance, CRC-West helps families feel more confident, informed, and supported.

In addition to working directly with families, CRC-West partners with professionals across health care, education, and community organizations. Through consultation, coordination, and resource sharing, the program helps strengthen local care systems and ensures families receive more connected and responsive support.

The Paul Walter Schaus MD Health Care Endowment Fund will provide Chippewa County, CRC-West with resources that play a vital role in addressing immediate or unmet needs, such as transportation, equipment, or access to services, when traditional supports fall short.
