The fund was started in 2006 by the Jacobsons because of their belief in the value of youth service in the community.<

Each year, Jerry & Mary Jacobson recognize two student ambassadors from the Chippewa Area Catholic Schools with these awards for exceeding the expectations of the program, whose mission is to recognize the needs of others and reach out to help satisfy those needs. 

With this recognition, the Jacobsons make a donation, in the students' names, to the St. Vincent de Paul Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Chippewa County. Money in the form of grants from this endowment goes to support the same philosophy and mission that the ambassador program does….youth groups providing community service and reaching out to those in need.
