The St. Vincent de Paul Service Endowment Fund was established in 2006 by Jerry and Mary Jacobson because of their belief in the value of youth service to the community. Mary, as a volunteer parent, developed an Ambassador Program to promote service opportunities for students that provide experience in areas of leadership, hospitality, mentoring and team building.

This Field of Interest fund awards grants to non-profit organizations in Chippewa County that provide service opportunities for youth. The fund complements the Student Ambassador Program in the McDonell Area Catholic Schools (MACS), whose mission is to recognize the needs of others and reach out through activities and programs that help satisfy those needs.

Each year, two Student Ambassadors who exemplify exceptional commitment to service and leadership are honored with the St. Vincent de Paul Award. These students serve as role models for their peers, and in their honor, the Jacobson's make contributions to the endowment fund. These gifts are then reinvested into grants that empower youth-led service initiatives, creating a lasting cycle of generosity and impact.

Open to students in grades 7-12, the MACS Student Ambassador Program contributes more than 1,000 hours of service annually to schools, parishes, and the community each year.
