"We have a beautiful, welcoming community, and want this huge flag to be one of the first sights to greet people as they come over the bridge and enter the downtown," explained Dan Daniel, one of the proponents behind starting this fund with the Community Foundation of Chippewa County.

"We also want to honor those who have served in the past or are currently serving in the United States armed forces," added Don Bichner, another member of the visionary for this effort. People who wish to honor a current soldier or remember a fallen one by flying the flag in their honor will have that opportunity as well.  Granting will provide a continued stream of funding for this project.
